O'School feeding: Osun Govt. lauds FG for flagging off distribution of Engagement letters, Tables for Independent Monitors.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has flagged off the distribution of Engagement letters and Tablets for the trained Independent Monitors of its National Social Intervention Programmes in the state of Osun.
The Independent Monitors are saddled with the responsibility of monitoring the designated number of beneficiaries of the National Social Investment Programme, provision of evidence-based report on findings in the field, attending all trainings and meetings as required.
Speaking at the event in Osogbo the State Capital, " the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Farouq stated that the application called the Social Investment Management Information System (SIMIS) is a mobile and web-based one Specially designed for monitoring the National Social Investment Programme.
The Minister who was represented by Mr Matthew Dada added that the devices will guide the Federal Government to ensure that, the programmes are working in line with their objectives for effective implementation
According to her,it
will enable States to deliver on the mandate of President Mohammodu Buhari to lift one hundred million Nigerians out of poverty.
Hajia Farouq, however ,enjoined the beneficiaries to carry out the assignment with outmost sense of patriotism, diligence, and sincerity . She warned that her Ministry will not accept anything short of the set standards.
In his remarks, Governor, state of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola thanked President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government for its sustained efforts and commitments that have ensured the success of the National Social Intervention Programmes.
Governor Oyetola who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji explained that the Social Investment Programmes under President Buhari led administration which covers, N-Power Graduate and Non-graduate Scheme for Youth, National Home-grown School Feeding Programme for Primaries 1-3 pupils, Conditional Cash Transfer with Five thousand naira (#5,000) per month paid to beneficiaries, Market Moni among others are the most ambitious in the history of Nigeria.
The State helmsman assured Federal Government of its resolve to continue to give the desired support for the effective implementation of the programmes.
The event provided an opportunity for the state government of Osun to appeal to the Federal Government to review the no- payment policy for the School Feeding Programme stressing that Osun has never stopped feeding the School Pupils for once since the commencement of the Programme.
The event was attended by many notable dignitaries .Among them was the Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin as well as top Government functionaries too numerous to mention.
