Tourism: A vital sector for accelerated economic growth, Oyetola

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has pinpointed tourism as a vital sector that can accelerate the State economic growth.
The Governor stated this in Osogbo, the State Capital, during a meeting held with the authorities of Seventh Cliff Resort, USA who paid him a courtesy visit in his office to inform him about their resolve to renovate Olumirin Waterfall in Erin-Ijesa, Osun State and to intimate the Government about level of work done so far on the site.
Governor Oyetola,who was represented by his Deputy, Benedict Alabi stated that, the plan of the administration of Governor Oyetola is to predicate the growth of the State economy on tourism, mining and Agriculture.The Governor pledged his readiness to partner with the investors by giving them maximum cooperation they deserve.
He however promised the investors that he will do everything possible to ensure the actualization of the dream.
While speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of the Company, Temitope Aluko explained that the Company has signed an agreement with the Government to complete the project within the next 3 years, adding that 35 hectares of land have been acquired for the project on which preliminary work had commenced.
He stressed further that the project,when completed, will create a lot of job opportunities,thereby boosting the State economy.
The CEO also assured all investing partakers in the site of the safety of their investment.
Speaking at the meeting, the Traditional Ruler of the ancient town, Akinla of Erin-Ijesa, who spoke through High Chief S.O. Adebowale appreciated the State Government for deeming it fit to fix the legendary waterfall. He assured Government, investors and tourists of maximum security of the site, their lives and property, while pledging that the Community is ready to cooperate with the Government and the investors.
In their separate presentations, the duo of Engineer Olowoyeye and Omosola Elizabeth highlighted some of the importance and benefits of tourism sites, including income generation and means of entertainment.
They however advised other people to invest in the Olumirin waterfalls' site, promising that it will yield great returns.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Osun, Dr. Obawale Adebisi said since, the plans and aspiration of Government is to grow the State economy through tourism, the Ministry has not relented in sourcing for investors who will partner with the State to develop all the tourist sites in Osun.
He used the opportunity to intimate the Governor with different aspects of development that are going to take place in the site.
Present at meeting were: State Cabinet members, Chiefs from Erin-Ijesa and other investors, among others.
