2022 Int'l Mother Language Day: Osun Govt. Spells out Modalities to rescue Yoruba Language from total extinction

In celebrating the year 2022 International Mother Language Day, the State Government of Osun, under the leadership of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, has spelt out modalities to rescue Yoruba Language from going into total extinction.

A press release signed by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Obawale Adebisi and made available to the newsmen stated that the present administration recognizes Yoruba Language as our mother tongue and will do all within it's power to ensure that the language is rescued from total collapse. He noted that Government is working to ensure that the language is made compulsory,in both offices and at home, saying that this is the best way to safe it from going into extinction.

He frowned at the rate at which many Yorubas are not taking the language serious, especially the parents, by not allowing their children to express themselves in their mother tongue. He urged the parents to desist from this dangerous acts which, as according to him, may likely put the language in disrepute.

The release further explained that, as part of the plans of Government to bring the language back to life, the State Government will soon launch a story book to promote the speaking of Ife, Ijesha, and Igbomina dialets and to make it available for public consumption, both the Yorubas at home and in the diaspora.

Dr. Obawale encouraged all Yorubas, both young and old, including people in the diaspora to cherish the language wherever, they found themselves noting that there is no  other language that can be compared to ones mother tongue. He advised the people to emulate other developed Countries of the world where  their mother tongue is made their official language , adding that if Yorubas can do the same, it will add to their value.

The Commissioner however felicitated with Yorubas on the occasion of this year's International Mother Language Day celebration.

Use farm tools, processing equipments given you to progress your farming businesses, Osun Agric Commissioner urges women in Agriculture

Osun LGSC career head directs HLAs to make imprest a first line charge

By Jide Akano Heads of Local Government Administration (HLAs) in Osun State have been directed to make the issue of monthly imprest their first line charge while dispensing their monthly allocation. This directive was given by the Permanent Secretary in the Local Government Service Commission, Barr. Adeoye Popoola at a crucial management meeting with the HLAs in Abere. Barr.
