Osun Assembly confirms Civil Service Commission members

Osun State House of Assembly has confirmed Governor Adeboyega Oyetola's nominees for Osun State Civil Service Commission.
The House of Assembly confirmed the nominees on Monday during the plenary at the State Assembly Complex, Osogbo.
The confirmation motion was moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Maroof Olanrewaju and seconded by Hon. Mulikat Abiola Jimoh representing Ifelodun State Constituency.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the Parliament, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, described the nominees as the right people fit for the assignment.
According to him, "Section 198 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria empowers the House of Assembly to screen and confirm any appointment.
"This House hereby empowers Mr Governor to swear in the confirmed chairman and other commissioners", he added.
Owoeye advised the newly confirmed team to work together to deliver the best they can.
In another development, the House considered the policy thrust of Osun State Environmental Protection bill 2021.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, noted that the bill had a lot to offer as it was aimed at keeping the state clean.
He said that the bill would, among other functions , focus on untapped mineral resources in the State, serve as a source of revenue and bring environmental offenders to justice.
The Speaker noted that the bill would regulate the erection of masts by telecommunications operators and check illegal mushroom domestic gas plants.
In their different contributions the lawmakers, noted that the bill would aid control of flood, regulate the activities of the Ministry of Environment, sanitize and guide policies on environment in the state.
They noted that the bill would also enhance standard of living of the people and urged the House to give the bill accelerated passage.
Meanwhile, the Speaker, Hon. Timothy Owoeye has congratulated women on this year's International Women Day Celebration.
He urged women to continue to play the much needed supportive roles in the family which is the most effective way to revamp the nation's dwindling values and virtue.
