2022 Children's day: Better future for every Child is Paramount to my administration-- Oyetola

 Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has said that securing better future for every child, irrespective of their geographical location and condition, is paramount to his administration 

The Governor  made this assertion in his speech at this year's edition of International Children's Day in Osogbo themed,"Investing in our future means investing in our children." 

Oyetola, who was represented at event, which was well attended by students drawn across various local governments of the state, by the Head of Service, Dr. Olowogboyega Oyebade articulated that,"the choice of this year’s theme could not have come at a better time than now when challenges posed by the total breakdown of the societal values and the current unrestricted social media vices, which calls for an urgent intervention of all stakeholders to put hands on deck in making conscious effort at raising awareness of parents, family on the critical roles of protecting the children against all forms of violence."

Mr Governor enunciated that a better future is guaranteed for every child if parents give their children quality education and equally teach them to live a life of honesty, dedication and love for their country, stressing that there should be no duty more important to parents than ensuring that children are cared for, proctected, respected and see to it that their lives are free from fear which will enable them to grow in peace.

He then used the occasion to charge the children to imbibe the virtues of discipline, hardwork, honesty and patriotism, which are essential for tapping into great potential for sustaining democratic institutions for national development.

In her welcome address, the Special  Adviser to the Governor on Women Children  and Social Affairs, Mrs Toyin Araoye  said : “ Children are the extraordinary blessing to any nation, they are the greatest gift of humanity, they have limitless potentials and are useful human resources for the progress of the country.            
 
"These little ones are not only a vital source of employment for the state but also a change agent to constructive process of building unity, economic prosperity and political stability in a nation hence , conducive environment that will  enable them to bring out their God-given gifts must be made available to them."

Mrs Araoye however used the opportunity to highlight some of the various impacts of the present administration in the State towards ensuring holistic development of the children such: as provision of safe and conducive environment for leaning, equipment of schools with  teaching aids and libraries to promote functional education, employment of qualified teachers to train children up for future challenges, upgrading of free school meals for children in primary schools in other to boost their academic performance  and employment of more food vendors across the local government areas of the State to eradicate unemployment to mention few. 
    
She then commended the First Lady, Alhaja Kafayat Oyetola for her motherly roles in promoting, defending, supporting and championing the course of children in the state. 

Highlight of the event was the presentation of gift items to the best schools during the March past.
