Iwude-Ijesa 2022: Osun Govt pledges support for the annual festival

Osun State Government, under the leadership of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, has pledged to give maximum support for the celebration of this year's Iwude-Ijesa festival, holding  in Ilesha.

The Supervising Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Engr. Olalekan Badmus gave the assurance in his Office at the State Government Secretariat, Osogbo, during the meeting held with the Planning Committee to notify the State Government about the annual event.

He said the administration of Governor Oyetola is so passionate about the promotion of Culture and Tourism in the State, hence he is leaving no stone unturned in promoting it.

He therefore promised that the State Government will do everything within his power to ensure the success of the forthcoming programme. While commending the committee and the entire Ijesa people for their cooperation, commitment and support to the present administration, the Supervising Commissioner added that Governor Oyetola will not relent in giving all festivals in Osun equal treatment.

Speaking earlier, the Vice-president, Iwude-Ijesa Planning Committee, Chief Afolabi Igbaroola appreciated the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the management team of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Osun Tourism Board and the State Council for Arts and Culture for their unflinching support for the yearly Iwude-Ijesa festival. 

He noted that the Governor has been the pillar behind the successes recorded in previous programmes since his assumption of office. 

The Vice-president who presented the programme souvenir to the Commissioner, used the opportunity to notify the Government about the programme and lined up preliminary activities.

In her vote of thanks, the Director, Field Research and Documentation in the Ministry, Mrs Kehinde Akinyemi gave kudos to the Planning Committee for their efforts in ensuring that the festival is known worldwide. She prayed God to spear the lives of Ijesa sons and daughters, both home and abroad, to witness this year's event.

Present at the meeting were: the Coordinating Director in the Ministry, Mrs Solabomi Akinsola and the management staff, Osun Tourism Board and the event Planning Committee members, to mention but few.

Meanwhile, the festival had started since October 26th with the preliminary activities, while the grand finale is slated for December 24, 2022  in Ilesha.
