Governor Adeleke presents #632m bond certificates to Osun retirees

 

 .... promises residents to expect more satisfaction from his govt.

In line with the goals and aspirations of the Osun Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke,to see to the welfare of both workers and the Pensioners in the State, no fewer than 119 retirees ,which cut across the civil service, Parastatals and tertiary institutions, today received  bond certificates to the tune of #632,952,655.56.

The bond certificates presentation which is part of the activities lined up to mark 100 days in office of the administration of Governor Adeleke was held at the Local Government Service Commission Hall, State Secretariat, Abere.

In his remarks, the State helmsman  apologized, on behalf of the State, to Pensioners for the ill treatment of the past, noting that it is unfortunate that workers that have laboured for the success and development of the State were neglected and not catered for by past government.
He explained that since he took over the administration of the State, his constant focus had been on how to resolve all outstanding workers related debts. 

Governor Adeleke promised to clear all the outstanding half salaries based on his electoral promise.

He spoke further, " let me make this clear, i am not doing you any favour. I am only fulfilling the task you voted me to do. It is in that spirit that i am extending this attention to the contributory pensions.

" In summary, my administration has so far released a sum of #1.528b for bond certificates for retired workers of both State and Local Government, while a sum of #350m had been released as gratuities to retired staff of Local Governments, Primary and Secondary Schools, Tertiary Institutions, Civil Servants and Parastatals.

" The ultimate goal of any government is the welfare of the people and any government that refused to serve public good has failed constitutionally and morally". Adeleke concluded.

He therefore told the people of the State to expect more satisfaction from their aspirations, stressing that he has no other job than to make people happy by enthroning good governance.

In his opening remarks, the State Head of Service, Mr Ayanleye Aina gave kudos to the Governor for placing high premium on the welfare of workers and Pensioners,adding that it is number one of the five points agenda.

He explained that a sum of #350m is now being released monthly for the contributory pension scheme as against former sum of #175m. He added that a sum of #100m is being released as gratuity under the old pension scheme as against the former #50m. 

He further stressed that for the Local Government Service, a sum of #400m has been approved for the Contributory Pension Scheme, while #150m is being released for the old pension scheme.

Mr Aina therefore said he believed that very soon, the issue of backlog of unpaid salaries and pensions shall be a thing of the past.
 
In his goodwill message, the Chairman, Contributry Pensioners, Mr Gbenga Oyadare appreciated the Governor for alleviating the burden of Contributory Pensioners by approving the release of the bond certificates to them.

He said they have been on it during the past administration but to no avail. He further enjoined the Governor to assist Primary School sector by doubling the fund for effective service delivery.

He prayed God to grant him success in office.

The event featured presentation of bond certificates to the retirees, Cultural Entertainment by the Osun Cultural Troupe.

Present at the event were:Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, Head of Service, political functionaries, Permanent Secretaries, Coordinating Directors, families and well wishers of the retirees,among other notable dignitaries.
