In a bid to make life more meaningful and easier for residents across the State, Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved the reconstruction of a number of bridges and river crossings for the use of the people.

They include: the bridge at Oke-Onitea junction in Osogbo, the river crossing at Shasha UNIOSUN road  in Osogbo, the bridge along Abass road in Ede among others.

These are river crossings and bridges which have made life difficult for motorists and other residents who ply the roads over the years since it has been in a state of disrepair.

A visit to the river crossing at Shasha along UNIOSUN road in Osogbo before the intervention of Governor Adeleke showed that vehicles could no longer move from one side to the other as result of the bad condition of the bridge.

The case is no different at the bridge situated at Oke-Onitea junction in Osogbo which had become a death trap of some sort before the attention of Governor Adeleke.

Speaking on the intervention of the Governor on the bridges/river crossings, the Director of Highways at the Ministry of Works and Transport, Engr. Basiru Bello said the Governor's intervention is a response to the demands of the people.

He explained that immediately reports got to the Governor concerning the bad condition of the bridges he immediately gave directive to the Ministry of Works to start fixing them.

Engr. Bello said the Governor has shown passion and the zeal to continue to put smiles on the faces of the masses who voted him into office, hence the approval given to embark on the projects.

He assured that the Ministry of Works and Transport will do a thorough supervision of the projects, while appealing to residents of the areas to cooperate with officials of the Ministry as the work continues.
