2023 Children's Day: Osun Gov. Adeleke tasks stakeholders on basic right of children


 

     
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has charged stakeholders in child education and child development to be alive to their responsibilities to secure a brighter future for them and the society at large.
      
The Governor  who gave the charge in his address, at this year's children's day organised by the office of the Governor's wife in conjunction wIth the  State Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs, Abere  had in attendance sizeable numbers of invited Schools drawn from both public and private across the thirty Local Governments areas of the State.
     
He noted that, meeting the need of the future's leaders in the rapid changing world requires collective efforts of all and sundry to build a non- chaotic egalitarian society.
     
The state helmsman ably represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye opined that, future belongs to the virtuous, focused, hardworking and  serious minded students. He also enjoined the  children to shun all  forms of social vices to be successful in life.

He seised  the opportunity to appreciate people's support before, during and after the governorship poll and called for continued support of all to jointly build a virile state.

The State Governor who contended that, good parenting is a multitask job urged parents, guardians, teachers, religious leaders, government and non-governmental Organizations to compliment government efforts to ensure holistic development of  children. 

Mr. Governor stated that, the theme for this Year’s celebration  which is “The state of Nigeria Children today; proper parenting for value reorientation and National Consciousness reiterated that it needs concentration on the various issues contending with the holistic care of the children, such as drug abuse, child labour, sexual exploitation, child abduction, forced marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM), high prevalence of school dropout, are intricate challenges confronting and militating against child protection and development in the society which must be addressed.
    
In his address, the Cordinating Director, Ministry of Women Children and Social Affairs, Mr Jide Falade expressed gratitude to God and Governor Ademola Adeleke for making the day a reality for  the approval of funds for the execution of the programme.
   
He called on parents and  guardians, government at all levels and the stakeholders in child upbringing to re-double their effort to wage war against all forms of  problem impeding the general wellness of Children on the internet of their future.
  
He also advised young minds to avoid bad company which currupt good morals to excel in life.

Speaking separately, some of the stakeholders in child development, messsrs Abiola Ezekiel, Abolarin Grace, Olufunke Adedigba, described the programme as the best to have happened in commemoration of Children's day, commended the organisers of programme advancing that, it afforded the youth the opportunity to meet with their friends from other schools to rub minds on gray areas affecting them. 

They emphasised the need for Children to face their studied, and eschew acts capable of truncating their ambitions.

This year's children's day  celebration featured prayers for the children by the representatives of Osun Grand Imam, Chairman, Christain Association of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter, match past  and cultural dance exhibition by the super kids academy.
     
At the end of the  match past competition, Anthony Udofia Primary School Osogbo went home with the grand trophy price as the overall winner, the second position goes to Franscisca Nursary and Primary School, while L A Primary School, Amuda- Oba, Modakeke went away with the third price.

 For the Secondary Schools,  Oni Girls High School Ile Ife got the first price, Ede Muslim Grammar School went away with the second price While Unity School Osogbo was the third price.

Children in their separate interviewed expressed joy at the programme, commended the organisers and prayed for a successful tenure of the present Administration.

In attendance were top political functionaries, Permanent Secretaries, Cordinating Directors, Iyalojas and Babalojas, Parents and guardians, members of NAAPs in Osun, Parents and guidance among others.
