Officials of the Osun State Traffic Marshals, otherwise known as OTRAM Vehicle  Inspection Officers VIO have been admonished to be more civil in the discharge of their traffic duties.

Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Sesan Oyedele gave the admonition while addressing them shortly after assuming office as Commissioner.

He explained that there is the need for caution and high level of civility in the discharge of their task despite the fact that their job is a life saving one.

The Commissioner explained that Governor Ademola Adeleke identifies the need for roads across the State to be free of any form of automobile accidents but residents must also be treated with utmost respect in the process.

Hon. Oyedele urged them to imbibe the use of good interpersonal relation languages while on duty and any other time, saying this will go a long way in helping them achieve the desired results.

In his words, "I must first of all commend you for doing a good job for our State. You engage in the job that tries to ensure that our roads are  accident free. One could also conveniently conclude that your job is a life saving one.

"Your role on our roads is a very important one and we commend you. But it is also important to know that as laudable as your job is, you must ensure you discharge it with a very high sense of civility. The way you engage people on the roads matters a lot.

"Your manner of giving directive is something that you must work on. You should talk to everybody with the respect that they deserve, approach people in a manner that will make them want to listen to you. You must ensure that your words are clear and respectful even when under pressure", he enlightened.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Oladapo Fashina charged the OTRAM and VIO officials to put in more efforts in ensuring that roads in Osun State are free of accidents.

He assured the marshalls of the support of the management of the Ministry to ensure that their job goes on smoothly.
