Be innovative, prudent and shun corrupt practices, Governor Adeleke charges stakeholders

Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has charged key stakeholders in his administration to be innovative, diligent, prudent and as well shun every form of corrupt practice which can have negative impact on the people of the State.
The Governor gave the charge at the 3-day strategic retreat and onboarding programme for new political office holders and key stakeholders of Osun State which comprises, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, among others, with the theme, " Setting a new tone for Osun State" held in Ede.
He noted that his administration is poised on 5-point agenda, which encapsulates workers welfare, boosting businesses and reviving the State economy, through the introduction of policies that will boost State GDP. He noted that his government recognizes local suppliers and is thereby looking for means to expand local economy by avoiding exportation of contract and services outside the State, except if there is no capable hands in the State to carry out the job to avoid the mistakes made by past administrations.
Governor Adeleke reiterated that he is running a Peoples'- friendly government, admitting that, "any government that is not people-concerned will fail ", noting that, there must be a collaborative effort to reform education, health, agriculture and peoples' welfare.
He stressed further that Osun is blessed with resources which can be used to create wealth for the people.
He spoke further, " I want you to know that this is our State and we must do everything possible to develop it. This State is blessed with resources which, if well managed, can improve our economy and at the same time, create wealth for all and sundry.
" I want to task and share with you principles of unity to achieve collective success.
" Please, avoid infighting and you must work together as a team to achieve the desired goals. Political appointees and Permanent Secretaries must work within the public service rules", the Governor said.
Governor Adeleke, who commended the State House of Assembly, under the leadership Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, for supporting his administration, charged the Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government to carry various House Committees along in the activities of their Ministries, saying, the three arms of government must work together for the success of his administration.
The State helsman however used the opportunity to recount some of his achievements in office within his first 100 days, including rehabilitation of roads, sinking of 332 boreholes across the State, free Medical health care, State Tech domestication, regular and prompt payment of workers salaries and pensions, to mention but a few.
While presenting his paper, the Lead Consultant, Dr. Dare Victor, stated that for Governor Adeleke to achieve his goals, all hands must be on deck, as every stakeholder must put in his/her best to ensure speedy transformation of the State.
While noting that Osun is blessed with mineral resources, he charged the stakeholders to resist slothfulness, uncaring attitude, and be encouraged to work under little supervision in order to help the State advance.
He further encouraged them to embrace commitment and dedication to service among others.
In his goodwill message, the Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Adedokun Abolarin noted that governance is difficult but can still be managed through the help of capable hands.
He stressed that with the caliber of people working with the Governor, the future of Osun is bright, charging the participants not to forget Yoruba heritage in terms of language, culture, local delicacies so that, Osun can be a shinning star among nations of the world.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the State Head of Service, Mr Ayanleye Aina thanked Governor Adeleke for approving the retreat. He urged the participants to work together for the fulfilment of the 5-point agenda of the Governor.
He explained that the public service rules must be prioritized in their dealings, assuring the Governor of workers and all stakeholders' support at all times.
Present at the event were : the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye and Chairman, Osun Chapter of Peoples' Democratic party, Hon. Sunday Bisi, among other notable dignitaries.
