Osun Govt procures water treatment chemicals, vows to replace obsolete facilities

In a bid to ensure that Osun communities have access to potable water and also as part of familiarization with the activities of water corporation ,the Chairman of Osun State Water Corporation, Hon. Olayinka Oyedotun has embarked on a visit to the water projects located at Ede headworks.
The visit took the team to the central laboratory of Ede headworks and also to the damaged 450mm diameter steel pipe at Agbeni area over osun river in Ede , where the chairman expressed his dissatisfaction with the obsolete bursted steel water pipes.
Speaking on behalf of Osun State Government,Hon Oyedotun promised that all obsolete water pipes and facilities will be replaced and installed with quality and modern equipments in no distant time.
The chairman described the State Governor has a good hearted man, who is committed to the wellbeing of all and sundry, adding that the State Government through the State Water Corporation has procured water treatment chemicals for the benefit of general public.
Explaining the benefits of Hypochlorite / Liquid Chlorine Gas in water production, Hon. Oyedotun disclosed that the chemical is a disinfectant that kills germs that may be present in the water produced before being dispensed to the masses.
He added that aluminum sulphate is also used to ensure clean potable water while hydrated lime is used to regulate the acidity level of the water.
The Chairman seized the opportunity to enjoin members of the public to see water facilities as theirs, urging them to inculcate the spirit of good maintenance culture and do away with all forms of water wastages.
Hon. Oyedotun also appealed to water consumers to always report any pipeline leakages in good time for immediate corrective measures by the professionals of Osun State water corporation
The Chairman therefore advised members of the public to support the present administration by paying their water bill/rate as and when due, saying it would assist the government in carrying out its statutory responsibilities of providing potable water for the people of the state.
