Executive Officers in the Finance Department of Osun Local Government Service have been admonished to use their placements to contribute maximally towards the actualization of the 5-point agenda of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

This admonition was given by the Chairman, Osun State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Hon. Adetunji Adeleke Jnr, in his goodwill message at the training workshop on "Finance and Accounting Skills" organized for the middle level Accounts Officers drawn from all local government areas of the State.

Hon. Tunji Adeleke observed that, in furtherance of government's efforts to improve service delivery at the grassroots level, the training will enhance their efficiency and effectiveness in their various duty posts.

The LGSC Boss then counseled the Executive Officers(Accounts)  to participate actively in the workshop, assuring them that it will acquaint them with relevant knowledge, skills and competencies in finance and accounting principles and procedures.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in the Commission, Barr. Adeoye Popoola who appreciated Governor Ademola Adeleke for being totally committed to the welfare of workers,  enjoined the workforce to reciprocate his kind gesture with dedication to duty, loyalty and improved performance.
While pinpointing the import of training and retraining as " a make-up for knowledge gaps"  in various areas of professional callings, the Commission Scribe averred that the Local Government Accounting processes and financial management had suffered some setbacks in recent past until the International Public Sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS) was introduced. This, according to him, necesitated the deployment of training energy towards improvement in this important area.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman, Directors Finance and Supplies Forum, Prince Olaoye Sunday, who was represented by the Secretary of the Forum, Comrade Sanya Adebayo appreciated the State Governor and the facilitator of the training, charging the participants to justify the expenses thereon by making the most of it.
In his interaction with the Press at the end of the workshop, the lead Resource Person, Alhaji Gbadamosi Mudasiru evaluated that, with the quality of papers delivered by the carefully selected Resource Persons, the major objective of the workshop had been realized. He then advised the participants to return home to review and re-sturdy the materials presented, and to attend to all the accompanying practical questions which,he observed, are positively correlated to their work, for a better local government system.
