Australian High Commissioner promises Collaboration with Osun on Culture, Tourism Development.

 


 


The  High Commissioner for Australia, His Excellency John Donnelly has promised to ensure  maximum collaboration with Osun State  Government to advance Culture and Tourism in the State.

The High Commissioner alongside his wife, Madame Sunita Kofnala reaffirmed this in Osogbo, the State capital during his visit to some of the tourist sites in the State. 

He discribed Osun as a good tourists destination, saying that, he has a positive experience visiting the site. He revealed that, Nigeria and Australia have been a very good ally for years and that is why, he is going to work to ensure that the Country and Osun partner together to promote the rich culture  of the State. 

"I so much love your Culture and is like I'm home. I love your warm reception and I can see that you are very accommodating and friendly.

" In terms of tourism, you are trying and I'm very glad being here. I 'm going to ensure that Australia and your State partner together to ensure that both your culture and tourism are promoted"the Ambassador affirmed.

John Donnelly proudly presented Australia Park documents to the State Government.

In his remarks, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Osun, Dr. Obawale Adebisi who received the visitors on behalf of the State Governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola appreciated the Australian High Commissioner and his wife for visiting the State. 

He used the opportunity to inform the visitors that, Osun is blessed with tourism potentials and rich culture. He identified some of the Tourist sites in the State which include: Yoruba Museum and World Heritage Centre, Ile-Ife which is still under construction, Ayikunnugba waterfall, Oluminrin waterfall and Oke Iragbiji among others.

Dr. Obawale requested  the Australian Government to look for modalities to partner with the State to develop the visited sites to standard.

He further appealed to the Country to assist the State in getting grants, exchange of Programme in the area of Culture, development of Yoruba Museum and World Heritage Centre in Ile-Ife including promotion of the local fabric, otherwise known as "Adire Osun" to mention but few.

The tour avail the Ambassador and his wife the opportunity to  visit  Osun Osogbo Grove as well as the Military Cemetery, Ayetoro in Osogbo,where the Australian High Commissioner honoured the fallen Australian veteran world war Soldiers with symbolic bouquet of flowers.                        
                        
 Highlight of the visit was the the presentation of the  Osun Osogbo Grove guide and the locally made fabric"Adire Osun" to the visitors.
