NEMA, Osun Govt. embarks on massive distribution of relief materials to flood victims.

      

 Osun State Deputy Governor, Benedit  Alabi has appreciated the collaborative effort of National Emergency Management Agency with  Osun State Government through the office of Osun State Emergency Management Agency to distribute relief materials to year 2021 flood victims in Osun and for the newly renovation of OSEMA Warehouse at Osogbo.
   
The Deputy Governor who was represented by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, Sunkanmi Ajiboye made this commendation at the direct distribution of Federal Government relief items to persons affected by flood disaster which took place at OSEMA warehouse, Osogbo.
     
He further reiterated  in his address that, "disaster remains retrogresive clog to many nations as it erodes recorded progress and development.This disaster can be averted if the people can comply with some certain precautionary measures and be vigilant and that the disaster management or control is never the sole responsibility of the government but joint efforts of all the stakeholders including members of the public."
    
The SSA equally hinted that there should be continued enlighment,  sensitisation of the public on how to manage, control disaster and thereafter assured members of the public of government's judicious and equitable distribution of the available relief materials.
    
 In his  speech, the Director  General,  NEMA Abuja, Dr Ahmed Mustard Habib, represented by the  Head of Operations, NEMA, Ekiti, Afolayan Olusegun, commiserates with the good people of Osun State over August 10, 2021 flood disaster in Osun that affected a lot of people which resulted  in the destruction of properties, and other means of livelihood of several persons. He also reiteriated that the relentless incidents of this type of disaster in the country is not only devastating but also a clog in the wheel of progress and economic development of the affected communities.
      
 Afolayan hinted further that the relief materials worth millions of naira distributed is to cushion the effect of the unfortunate incident of flood disaster that occurred in the State in the year 2021 and that the program is put together by the Federal Government, through National Emergency Management Agency under the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to distribute the relief materials such as roofing sheets, nails, cements, food stuffs such as rice, beans, Maize, groundnut oil and tomato paste and the rest.
     
 Afolayan  also assured Osun State Government of constant collaboration to  explore long time and more sustainable solutions to both natural and human induced disasters in the State.
      
 In his welcome address, the General Manager, OSEMA,  Amos Adejinle appreciated NEMA for their unrelented effort in assisting our dear State despite various challenges across  the country. 
      
 Adejinle stressed that since the advent of the present administration of Governor  Adegboyega Oyetola, Osun State has been in the good book of the Federal Government through regular receipt of  noticeable assistance for the benefits of her teaming population that have been affected by one disaster or the other, most especially our farmers that incurred losses in 2021. 
      
In their words of appreciation, Mrs Ayandare Kudirat from Onireke Obate in Osogbo and Alhaji Adebayo Fasasi appreciated the National and State Government for their  kind gesture in putting succor and relief to the faces of the masses and also prayed that the Almighty God shall continue to support them. Alhaji Adebayo Fasasi appealed to the State Government to expand the river channels across the State and to also clean the drainages to prevent massive flooding in the state.
