Make meaningful inpact while alive, Oyetola tells Artistes

Osun state Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has admonished theatre practitioners in Yoruba land to always contribute their  quota to make life meaningful for people while they are still alive.

Governor Oyetola stated this at the "Artiste day" in honour of late John Olawuni, with the stage name, "Tafa Oloyede" at his residence in Osogbo by  Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Producers Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) Osun State Chapter under the leadership of it's Governor, Alhaji Moruf Olayiwola.

The Governor who spoke through the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Obawale Adebisi said, any impact made by people while still leaving would be what they will be remembered for when they die. He urged them to make use of their talents judiciously to better the lot of people around them.

The State helsman  also appreciated the role of Artistes in Cultural promotion which has contributed immensely to the growth of the State while urging them not to relent in their efforts in ensuring that Yoruba cultural heritage do not go into extinction.

The Governor described the late John Olawuni as a diligent, patriotic, humble, hardworking and hero of his time while alive, adding that, he has made a landmark in his chosen career which made him famous and exceptional among his peers, not only in Nigeria but Worldwide. He however charged others in the Industry to emulate the late theater icon in whatever they do.

He therefore disclosed the plan of the state Government  of a medical package for Theatre Artistes especially the elderly in the state tagged " WELFARE FOR THEATRE ARTISTES" to enable them stay healthy at all times.

Governor Oyetola however expressed condolences with the TAMPAN, family members and fans of the deceased, while praying to God to spear the lives of other people in the Industry.

John Olawuni, a native of Ede, Osun State who was born in the year 1953 gave up the ghost at age 69 and is survived by children, and wives.

Present at the Artistes day were: Senior Special Assistant on Culture and Tourism, Mr Opesina Raimi; Coordinating Director of the Ministry, Mrs Solabomi Akinsola; and other Directors from the Ministry.

Also in attendance were TAMPAN State and National Executives,  TAMPAN members across the South-West part of the Country. and Family members.
