Osun First Lady advises ICT trainees to maximize aquired knowledge
Wife of Osun State Governor, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola has advised women in the State, who have just completed a five-day training on ICT Infrastructure and Empowerment to maximize the knowledge aquired so that they will not only be financially independent, but they will also continue to contribute to the State economic development.
Mrs Oyetola gave the advice in Osogbo at the closing ceremony of the ICT training programme organized for women, girls and youths in the South West Zone of the country. It was organized by the National Center for Women Development in collaboration with Osun Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs.
The First Lady, who was represented by Special Adviser to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Women and Social Affairs, Mrs Toyin Araoye advised the participants not to relent in their knowledge aquisition endeavour, advancing that no knowledge is ever lost.
She also commended the Federal Government and Directors General, National Center For Women Development, Abuja, Hon. Dr Asante Vilita Bashir and her team for a job well done, assuring them that the training will bear positive fruits.
Mrs Araoye, who used the opportunity to highlight some of the various efforts of State Governor and her wife at empowering women in the State, further called on the entire womenfolk in the State to ensure the return of the State helmsman for a second term.
In his speech, the Head , ICT Department, Mr Johnson Morrison Udobong, who represented the Director General of National Center For Women Development( NCWD), explained that the training was aimed at exposing women, girls and youth to various information and communication technology applications, tools and techniques which has the potential to boost their capacity.
While expressing their joy separately, Mrs Odunola Oluborode and Mrs Nike Adesanya appreciated the organizers and also thanked God for making the training programme happen.
Highlight of the event was the distribution of brand new laptops, certificate of participation and stipend for transportation to the participants while 40 widows and vulnerable women were also empowered with stipends to assist in their economic well-being.
