Adeleke promises to support Culture, Tourism Ministry on the creation of Adire market

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has signified his interest in supporting the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in creating "Adire" market.
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi stated this while being briefed by the management of the Ministry.
Speaking at the briefing which was held in the State Secretariat, Osogbo, Prince Adewusi said culture is very important and that the present administration knows the benefits of culture to the society.
He stressed that the cultural team of the state should be provided with necessary costumes,confessing that that he was not impressed with their dressing which,he observed,was not up to the standard of their counterparts in other states.
He added that he will love Osun state to have it own "Adire' market soon,so that it will not be only Itoko market in Abeokuta that the lover of cultural wears will be patronizing. He as well appreciated the effort of the Oni of Ife,Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for encouraging the selling of "Adire'" in Ile Ife through one of his wives.
He stressed further that having a place for production and selling of Adire' within the state will help the state to boost it economy as the production will not discriminate but produce and sell to any political party, religion and race.
Speaking earlier, the Coordinating Director, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mrs Solabomi Akinsola said the Ministry is a professional Ministry comprising of the following departments: Field Research and Documentation, which deals with promoting the culture and all the festival in the state , Hotels and Hospitality Management, Museum and Monument, as well as Department of Administration and Supplies.
Mrs Akinsola, who was accompanied by the management team of the Ministry, stressed that the Ministry so far has done a lot in the area of tourists sites and promotion of Arts, stressing that the Ministry is working towards having the National Museums at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
She added that the Ministry had tried so hard to aquire landed property for the establishment of locally made fabrics also known as "Adire Osun" market.
The Coordinating Director therefore enjoined the state government to employ more Cultural officers for the smooth running of the Ministry.
