Osun Gov's wife, Chief (Mrs) Titilola Adeleke gets certificate as net ambassador for the State

Osun State Governor's Wife, Chief (Mrs) Titilola Adeleke has been formally certificated as the Net Ambassador of the State.
The certificate was presented to her during the flag-off ceremony of the Insecticide Treated Net Campaigns organised by the State Ministry of Health in conjunction with Federal Ministry of Health ,Development Partners, Society for Family Health and Catholic Relief Service.
Speaking at the occasion, which took place at Local Government Service Commission Multi- Purpose Hall, Abere, the Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi pledged the State cooperation with developing partners to ensure successful distribution of the net to the residents of the State.
Senator Ademola Adeleke assured that all households in the State will benefit, free of charge,noting that 3.6 treated are on ground and that it will cut across all local government areas of the State.
He emphasized that his administration is committed to strengthening the health sector in the State.
The Permanent Secretary, Osun State Ministry Health, Dr Isiaka Adekunle in his keynote address said Osun State has been at the forefront of anti-malaria campaign, expressing the hope that the ongoing campaign would further reduce malaria prevalence in the society.
According to him: “Health is one of the cardinal points of the current administration and this has been demonstrated in your action.
“ The fight against malaria is a collective effort and everyone must be ready to play his or her part “, the Permanent Secretary emphasized.
In their various goodwill messages, Mr Chukwu Okworonko of the Federal Ministry Health, Mr Townsend Paul, Country Representative of Catholic Relief Services and Dr. Bello Ahmed, the Coordinator of World Health Organization (WHO) noted that the number of malaria cases in Osun since 2014 was about 1.4 million, adding that 4.2 million estimated cases were averted in the State between 2009 and 2022 and specifically said Osun would provide 15 percent of the total global fund support amounting to N261m annually to continue enjoying the global fund grants.
While Mr Townsend Paul viewed malaria as a major public health challenge in Nigeria and a key cause of mortality and morbidity, especially among children and pregnant women, he used the medium to acknowledge the invaluable support provided by the State Government.
In the same vein, the Coordinator for World Health Organization (WHO), Dr.Bello Ahmed stressed that the State Malaria Elimination Program is encouraged to ensure that all the people at risk of malaria are protected through the provision of the treated nets.
He explained that the vision of the WHO and global Malarial Community is a world free of malaria.
It would be recalled that earlier in the week, Osun Governor's wife, Chief (Mrs) Titilola Adeleke was unveiled, in a colorful ceremony, as the Brand Net Ambassador for the State.
Present at the epoch making event were the Iyaloya General of Osun,Chief (Mrs) Mary Oyebode, PDP Women Leader, Chief (Mrs) Alice Omowumi and other dignitaries.
Highlights of the event were the presentation of the certificate as well as culture renditions by the Osun State cultural Troupe.
