Osun LGSC career head directs HLAs to make imprest a first line charge

Heads of Local Government Administration (HLAs) in Osun
State have been directed to make the issue of monthly imprest their first line charge while dispensing their monthly allocation.
This directive was given by the Permanent Secretary in the Local Government Service Commission, Barr. Adeoye Popoola at a crucial management meeting with the HLAs in Abere.
Barr. Popoola who averred that it would be in the best interest of local government councils to pay monthly imprest regularly, in order to enhance work productivity as well as boosting the morale of workers.
The Career Head of the LGSC who announced that the posting of eligible Officers as Deputy Directors of various Departments in the Local Govt Councils/LCDAs would be released immediately, and he directed the Local Government Heads of Administration to ensure that the Deputies are properly treated as they should be in all ramifications. He added that paying the agreed imprest due to them would motivate the Deputy Directors to function more properly on their elevated status, as it used be in the past.
The Permanent Secretary reiterated the need to improve punctuality of workers in their offices, strict compliance to posting instructions from the Commission as well as effective monitoring of staff movement. He harped on the need for the HLAs to promptly notify the Commission, cases of abscondment by any staff; failing which the relevant HLA would be vicariously liable for such offence commited by his staff.
The meeting provided a forum for identifying and proffering solutions to some of the challenges confronting local government administration.
Barr. Adeoye Popoola however promised that the Commission would endeavor to do its best to restore the good old order in the local government service of Osun State.
Responding on behalf of the Association, the Forum Head of HLAs in the State, Prince Wale Adedapo, who pledged absolute commitment to the responsibility and services of the local government, assured the management that all instructions given will be strictly adhered to for the advancement of local government administration in the state. He declared that his members are generally happy with the pro-active leadership style of the Permanent Secretary and prayed for his overall success in office.
