Image

The Osun DMO through the Director General, Dr Tunde Adejumo in another piece as response to Wale Bolorunduro's latest write up said it is shocking that the former Commissioner resulted to attacking the personality of the DG instead of helping himself with knowledge about Public Finance/Debt Management. The DMO stated that the Public Debt Portfolio of either a Sovereign or Sub-national does not refer only to borrowings (which could be either domestic or external), but also includes domestic expenditure arrears, while urging Wale Bolorunduro to consult appropriate literatures for clarifications. The DMO says Dr Bolorunduro should be reminded that he served as Commissioner for Finance for only three years in an administration which completed the two terms of eight years, hence he lacks full knowledge of what really transpired under the administration. The DG, Osun DMO stressed that there is no need for the State's total debt stock to become a subject of argument when there is a Federal repository of debts stocks in the country, explaining that Federal Debt management office (DMO) keeps records of all borrowings by both the...

Osun Debt Portfolio; beyond the needless rhetorics

Image
Osun Debt portfolio no doubts, remains a subject of controversy given its seeming humongous stock in relation to the State’s streams of revenue. This has become a constant political issue particularly since emergence of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola as the Executive Governor of Osun State in November 2018. This is so given the wide departure of narratives of the current administration in the State from the weird and brazen excuses of financial difficulty synonymous with the immediate past administration. The more financial breakthroughs and successes recorded by the current administration, the more confused men of yesteryears and ‘’the doubting Thomases’’ become. Unfortunately, rather than seeking more knowledge to improve their understanding of Public financial management especially in turbulent time, this set of disillusioned individuals had chosen to take the path of calumny. Their choice understandably is aimed at covering up their many gaffes while in charge. Truly, the rapid...
