Osun Local Government Service Commission Boss, Hon.Tunji Adeleke has asserted that, if training and retraining of officers, on administrative procedures, are not stepped up, government will not be smooth in our local governments.
This assertion was made by the Chairman while declaring open a day training workshop on,"Office Management and Administrative Procedures"held for middle level Executive Officers in the Local Government Service.
Speaking on behalf of the Chairman, the Permanent Secretary in the Commission, Barr. Adeoye Popoola, in the Multipurpose Hall of the Establishment in Abere, pointedly told the participants:"The Commission has therefore deemed it highly desirable to re-awaken our consciousness, through training, about what is required of us as middle level Executive Officers to complement the success of our political administrators while in office."
While charging them to be very diligent in their conduct and official duties,Hon. Tunji Adeleke advanced,"It is only when you know administrative procedures and practice them, with good conscience, that this can be achieved."
The LGSC Boss alerted that in recent years, there had been massive erosion of highly skilled personnel from the local government service through retirement, death, secondment to the State as well as relocation outside the Country.
Lamenting that the massive exit of experienced workers had continued unabated, the Commission Boss expressed the fear that if training and retraining of officers is not stepped up, the story might not be palatable in the nearest future.
He then appreciated the State Helmsman for ensuring that funds are released to the Commission for the purpose of staff training, praying that God will make Governor Adeleke's regime a resounding success.
In their remarks, the duo of the Chairmen Forum of HLAs and Forum of Directors of Administration and General Services, Comrades Wale Adedapo and Hakeem Lawal respectively, who described the training of the Executive Officers (General Services) as first of it's kind, lauded the Permanent Secretary for his remarkable performance within his short stint in the saddle of the Commission.
They assured the Commission of absolute loyalty and promised that they will create conducive environment for the Executive Officers to succeed in all areas of assignments.
They however challenged them to be adequately equipped to add to the glamour of local government productivity by handling their assignments with utmost responsibility.
The topics explored at the training session were: Modern Technique of Management and Administration at the Grassroot Level; Structure of Modern Administrative Department and Basic Registry Procedures; and Handling of Official Documents in the Local Government, presented by the trio of Alhaji Kajogbola Ola-Oluwa, Mrs.Motunrayo Ajayi and Alhaji Olalekan Yusuff, respectively.
